LAHORE, ISLAMABAD (SANA): Shahbaz Taseer son of late governor Punjab Salman Taseer was abducted on gunpoint from Hussain Chowk of Gulberg Lahore, when he was going to his office in Gulberg from home at 10: 54 am here on Friday.
According to the CCPO Lahore Ahmed Raza Tahir four kidnappers were riding on black colour land cruiser and motorcycle intercepted Shahbaz Taseer at the Hussain Chowk and fled towards Firdous Market after kidnapping him.
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rehman Malik have taken strict notice of the incident and called upon the concerned authorities to recover him in the earliest.
SSP Investigation Abdul Razzaq Cheema talking to media persons said that a triple two rifle was recovered from the Firdous Market and two mobile phones and lap top were recovered from the vehicle of Shahbaz Taseer.
He said that the police of whole have been put on high alert and efforts are on to recover Shahbaz Taseer.
Cheema said that a friend of Shahbaz, who was traveling with him had informed police about the incident, adding that kidnappers thrown him after torture in the way, adding that the police is also trying to take statement of that person who informed the police.
CCPO Ahmed Raza Tahir said that 10 elite force personnel, police personnel and a squad of rangers was deployed with the Taseer family, adding that at the time of the incident no security guard was present with then, adding that this would be investigated.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani summoned Interior Secretary and directed him to extend all Intelligence assistance to the Government of Punjab to ensure early recovery of Shahbaz Taseer.
Prime Minister also telephone Shehar Bano Taseer daughter of late Salman Taseer and ensured him every possible support and early recovery of the Shahbaz Taseer.
Meanwhile prime minister telephones IG Punjab Javed Iqbal and directed him to use all resources for the early recovery of Shahbaz Taseer.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif contacted IG Punjab, home secretary and chief secretary and directed them to use all resources for the early recovery of Shahbaz Taseer, adding that he should be informed every new development of the case.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik also directed the interior secretary, IG motorway police and IG Punjab police to use all resources for the early recovery of Shahbaz Taseer.
President Asif Ali Zardari telephoned Amina Taseer and condemning the incident assured full support of the government for the early recovery of Shahbaz Taseer.
Meanwhile the family members said that they have not suspicion on anyone regarding the kidnapping, adding that they have no enmity with anyone.
The aspect of family property dispute could also not be rooted out in the kidnapping case.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan while talking to a private TV channel said that the incident is condemnable and government and masses of the province are worried on the incident.
He said that the security has been put high alert on the outgoing routes of the city so that the kidnappers could not succeed in taking him out of the city.
He said that the joint investigation team has been set up to investigate the incident, adding that the team includes personnel of police and all other intelligence agencies, adding that the positive outcome is expected in the kidnapping of US citizen Dr Waran in next few days.
He said that no stone would be left unturned for the recovery of the Shahbaz Taseer.
Meanwhile the forensic team visited the incident and collected the finger prints of the perpetrators involved in the incident.
